Just when you think you've got this Evan Angler guy all figured out, he throws you, yet another curve ball.I was really happy initially to think that this would be a terrific trilogy (they're all the rage) and then, surprise, surprise book four comes out. Yippee! I get to the end of this book and, Bam! Swipe appears to be a full out series. This book leaves you in a terrific place, but believe you-me, it is far from over. This book definitely had a different rhythm than the others in the series and you were taken a completely different way, but by the end, all of the pieces were put together nicely. This book really gives you an even deeper glimpse into the author's mind (the scary, genius place that it is) and his view of the world to come. It may not happen exactly the way Evan lays it all out, but the end of the world may not be too far off from this sad and scary place. If you haven't yet, jump on this series. Be prepared for late night reading, and even later night pondering..... Hmm.THE PUBLISHER HAS PROVIDED ME A COPY FOR REVIEW. I HAVE NO OTHER CONNECTION TO AND HAVE RECEIVED NO OTHER COMPENSATION FROM TOMMY NELSON.

Spark is a unique dystopian action/thriller, loosely based on the book of Revelation from the Bible. The novel is not overtly religious and some may wonder whether it is a Christian novel or not as there is little talk about God in it and unless you are familiar with the end times story from the book of Revelation, you may not recognize the parallel. Spark is the fourth book in a planned six book series. I would recommend starting at the beginning of the series in order to fully understand the the whole story. While there is a forward by the author that summarizes what has gone on before the current book, it cannot due justice to actually reading the books themselves and knowing the characters and locations. In any event, the main character in Spark, Ali is a new one to the cast in the Swipe Series.Spark is book 4 of the Swipe Series and introduces Ali, a beggar living in the Dark Lands city of al-Balat. Ali is one of the Markless and the Union wants her because she has the ability to control technology, though how, she doesn’t know. Not only that, but it talks to her. While this book was designed for children and teens, adults will be interested in reading it as well. The author has put a lot of thought into what might be possible for technology to do in the future. This book is very creative and unique and was a very interesting read. I did not read the series from the beginning, and I think I would have enjoyed the book much more had I started from book one. Even so, I did enjoy it.I thought the way Nico encouraged Ali to take his “help” was brilliant. Never was it forced. She did it all of her own free will. Sadly, that was all her own fault (you’ll have to read the book to find out what I’m talking about otherwise I’d be spoiling it for you).I gave this book 3 stars out of 5. This is a good, clean thriller that most young people will enjoy if they like dystopian fiction.Thank you to the publishers Thomas Nelson, via NetGalley for providing a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. A positive opinion was not required. All thoughts are my own.

As a mom I struggle to find books that are good for my teen children. Most are dark and have a message that I prefer not to share with them. These books share a message of faith and prepare our children for the issues that may come in the future. Should you take the Mark of the Beast? Christians know the answer to this. This is a story of Christian children who have decided not to get it but that decision has implications.

When my daughter saw that this book only had two reviews she asked me to please get online and write one for her since she's only twelve years old and has limited Internet access. The following review is coming from her."I read all the other books in this series. I read each book in under two days. I loved each of them and this one did not disappoint. It went in a completely different direction than I was expecting but in a good way. I also liked getting a better view of one of the main characters and seeing what happened in his life that caused him to make the decisions that he has made up to this point. Overall, this is one of my favorite books."

I went through the first three books in under a day each, so I was on tenterhooks waiting for this one. It was not what I was expecting - in the best way possible! Usually authors of big series play it safe and the middle books get kind of boring, but book four of the Swipe series takes you to the other side of the world and introduces you to a whole new set of characters who have never met Logan, Lily, and the rest of the gang from the earlier books. Nevertheless, I think Spark is my favorite book of the four.Without giving any spoilers, let me just say that I really liked the new characters and plotlines (especially Ali, who is very relatable and funny, if somewhat wise beyond her years). There are also a lot of really creative sci-fi ideas in the book, which open up whole new perspectives on the world of the AU/EU (and beyond!). By the end of the book, I could clearly see how Spark fits into the overall story, with a vague sense of the shape of things to come. I'm SO excited to see how Mr. Angler weaves the threads of this book into the others going forward. More Ali, please! So in short - I was surprised and delighted by the turn the story has taken with Spark! Mr. Angler is a very talented writer with great ideas that make you think, and the risk he took with this book definitely paid off. Loved it, 5 stars, can't wait for the next one!

Another edge of your seat Post Apocolyptic/Dystopian novel from Evan Angler. This story continues on where the last left off, but also gives us some more back story, I believe on our Anti-christ character. There is also some interesting "internet" stuff. This book is set across the ocean from the first books, and thankfully, ties everyone together at the end. I can't wait for the next one!!!
