With your practice hat on you can get through this practice guide. It includes the itemization of testing objectives by subject. It then allows you to check your answers against an answer and explanation key. This a resource you should not be without.
Great review book my son took a test without it scored an 80. He then took the test after using the practice book and scored an 97. I can't say it's a guaranteed 17 points but I believe it will be a marked improvement in score. My son said very accurate to test. Highly recommend it.
There is no scantron test answer form as suggested on the cover of the booklet.On whole, the content was useful, but several errors were found.Page 6, #30: The key gives C. Uncertain as an answer, but the third sentence says .."the matinee had eleven viewers". This cannot be true when the first sentence says the 'matinee had twice as many viewers as the early show". Did the early show have 5.5 viewers?Page 38, #20: The correct answer (243, or 3 to the fifth power) is not in the list of answers.Page 83, #38: The incorrect letter is identified in the key for correct answer.Page 125, #26: The figure is not fully labelled, or the answer key does not have the correct answer listed.Also, the arrangement of the Answer Key made it not easy to use for correcting and reviewing. There were no page references to the key in the question sections, and vice versa.
Good study material and really thought the answers and explanations were very helpful and easy to understand.However, before starting right into the practice tests, I would have liked some introduction and info about the HSPT, the format, how to prep for it, how it is scored, and how much time is allotted for each section.
This book is really thick with the knowledge that you can get regarding the test. It just didnât provide the reader set of questions just for the test purposes but the author was able to assess or evaluate the knowledge of the reader in each aspect of the High School Placement Test. Because the questions are composed of different topics and it seems to be complete as you go through it.The set of questions here are divided into two as Practice Test 1 and Practice Test 2. It is good that it is divided that way because you can use the Practice Test 1 as your pretest and the Practice Test 2 as your post test or you can use both of them as pretest and post-test. What is good here is not just about the presentation of each question but as well as how the author was able to mix different types of questions like, simple questions, easy but tricky questions and tough or difficult questions. Another thing is the explanations to the key answers. It is being explained briefly and concisely and that was excellent because it helps the reader know why and how did it happen that, that is the correct answer and not the one that he or she chose.These practice tests give the reader an idea of what would be the actual exams look like. Being prepared is not just knowing the topics per se but also having set your mind into a mood test and being able to be prepared on how you will be able to handle such set of questions.
Whenever I take a test, I get really nervous about how I'll do. I think my biggest problem is that I never feel like I know what to expect. Even if I study hard, not knowing what to expect makes my doubt myself. What if I didn't study the right things? When I was getting ready for this particular test, I knew I wanted to do well and I started to study, but I was having those same doubts. What if I don't study the right things? And there were so many possible options for material for the test, I knew I had to get it right or I was wasting my time. In order to ensure that I was heading in the right direction, I got this practice question guide to help me. The guide had questions in it like the ones I should see on the test, so it was really helpful. I was able to see what types of questions I'll get on the test and that helped me understand what I needed to study. Now, I can go into the test with a clear head knowing I'm as ready as I can be!
My seventh grader thinks this book would help her to get better for the high school placement test that sheâs planning to take in the fall 2016. It allows her to practice and see what area she needs to review or study more.
These books are a great combination in helping to prepare for the HSPT exam because my son is able to read about how to answer and work through questions in the guide and then use the practice tests to prepare.
