The information is "dumbed down" for those of us who haven't had Algebra in a long time. I use it in conjunction with my school textbook. It explains things that my textbook doesn't always address.
I bought this book so I could homeschool myself in algebra, so I could score better on the entrant test.I suggest buying the Algebra 1 for Dummies at the same time, have shown it to the math instructor, and he even commented it is a good book to learn from.
This workbook is a good basic book with both problems and the answers. It is helpful. I found the workbook problems a little more difficult then the actual textbook but I think that will be helpful in the long run to make you stretch your thinking of the concepts.
I really needed this book, it has so far helped me a lot with getting down all the different parts of algebra, I am taking a college algebra course that I was not ready for, this book saved my life.
The workbook was still very straightforward just like the book. However I wasn't as impressed. It doesn't really feel like a workbook. I didn't feel like it was a companion to the regular book like i expected. Still very helpful. Would reccomend one or the other. Both are unnecessary
Unlike Basic Math & Pre-Algebra for Dummies, this book will not teach you the material without the companion. If you feel comfortable with the subject matter but just need to refresh yourself, you should be alright. However, if you're looking to learn this information, this book won't be especially helpful. I bought this, the prealgebra, and algebra II books to study for a college math placement assessment and they helped me a decent amount in remembering things that I haven't looked at in years.
Came in excellent condition and already know what to expect because I have the pre-algebra book. I'm trying to review my knowledge base and touch up my skills in the areas where I fall short for upcoming college classes
At times the font in the book is so teeny tiny its hard to make out the exponential value in an equation. I have to zoom in massively to see the value. I'm thinking they used images for some of the equations rather than typing it out because zooming doesn't work in some instances. Also, I have discovered two typos in which the answer listed was wrong. Otherwise the book is extremely helpful in working out problems. I'd just recommend the real version of the book and not the kindle version.
