This is a fine book for beginners. It is nicely illustrated and well written. Unlike most books of this type it is an easy read, at times entertaining. It stays on track explaining the basics. The strong point of the book are the layout and photos. They are very well done and relevant to the text. However, it was a light on technical explanations. Very little time spent on eyepieces, filters, and other accessories. This seems to be done be design. The sections concerning actual experiences was interesting, but hardly necessary. If you have little or no knowledge of the topic, this book is for you. Otherwise one would find it lacking.
