As middle school teacher I found this nonsense poem to be one of my students' favorite. It was the first experience for many of playing with language and creating strange creatures. They had fun imagining what the Jabberwocky looked like, galumping around the room, and creating their own portmanteau words. In looking for a copy of the poem for a middle school friend of mine, I bought several versions, but found this the best.

Splended story.
