I am sixty-five years young and this beautiful poem is one I had to memorize and recite in elementary school. I fell in love with these words and wished my name was Allegra.
My grandmother bought this book for my niece, Allegra, for her 3rd birthday (there is an Allegra in the story and now my niece thinks the book is about her). It's a classic!
