I purchased this text as a required reading material for an intro Oceanography class, though the book contained much helpful and interesting information, my professor made powerpoint presentations that were directly from the book. Honestly, I opened this book maybe twice only to search for information that I could have found in the NOAA website. Having stated that, I would also like to say that Earth Science or Marine Biology are not my majors, and the only reason I took that class was to satisfy a tier requirement. To me, it was not a useful book for the price because I found no need for the book in my future but for people who are interested in pursuing those majors, this would be an extremely helpful text to have since it covers important intro information about the ocean and explains basic features of our sea. Though this book was expensive and mostly useless to me, it has an upside since the resell price is very high, I received 80% of the money that I paid for this text when reselling it to .
You know, I hated my Oceanography class, but not because of this book. It's really not a bad book, and honestly? It's why I passed the class with a B and not scraped by with a D. The information is clear and concise, and they try to be playful/funny when they can. All things considered, it's okay as far as textbooks go.
I read this book for what I thought would be an introductory geology class. It turned out to be a professional oceanography course and now I have become a for-profit oceanographer.
I learned a lot this textbook. It's a lot to grasp but I will probably reference this even after my course.
One of the best text books i have ever had for a class.
Great book, I'm enjoying it very much.
This is the book I need for class!
It was the correct book...
