The authors chose to write this book in a boring and repetitive modular format, dividing language development into neat little categories and then reviewing each category in the same boring fashion for each age range. Reading this book was actually painful.Aside from the content, the print quality was not good, the typeface was not sharp and crisp, and there was bleed from the opposite side. I have 20/20 vision, but every time I read this text I felt like I need glasses. Inexcusably bad print quality given the price of this book. Not recommended.
I found out I had the incorrect book and returned it to but when i was using it , the formatting and everything was haphazard for the kindle version YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.*EDIT:I would really like to stress that for 84$ this is slightly egregious how much this book is messed up, it shouldnt be on the market let alone for that price with all the glaring issues in this edition.I purchased the physical textbook, while bulky, it has everything in working order and I have no other opinion on the actual course material seeing how Im taking a course which is for general education requirements (which uses this book)
Really frustrated because even though the cover says that there would be a CD included, there is no where to watch the videos if you got the kindle version. Maybe I'm wrong and if so someone help me please but I'm very mad right now because I'm unable to do homework without the videos.
Formatting on the Kindle is TERRIBLE - pages act like a PDF instead of the typical Kindle format where the text fits your screen. This makes it much more difficult to use and less user-friendly. I was very disappointed by that.Besides that, meets my needs for my class.
For a textbook, it's an easy read. I really liked the charts because they provide a clear visual summary of some of the most important info. It also has tons of good websites for reference and the examples are clear.
Full of relevant research, but there is a lot of repetition in this book. The layout is not great. It could definitely use some editing.
The text was very well organized and presented clearly. The CD was not helpful. Good information for further study given at the end of the chapter.
I know it's a textbook and isn't supposed to be leisure reading, but the chapters are soooo long and hard to stick with.
