I am a Grad. student taking a Neural Basis of Comm. class. It's been over 5 years since I've had the prerequisite neuroanatomy class so I've been a little worried about being able to review and catch up. I'm glad I bought this book. This book has really great graphic aids which helps me understand concepts better. Just last night I was reading a description that wasn't making sense to me and then when I saw the diagram on the next page I was able to understand it. The writing in this book is precise and doesn't bog the reader down with so much detail that the concept is totally lost. It's not easy reading, but it doesn't put me to sleep almost immediately like some other speech anatomy textbooks have. Even if it's not your asssigned textbook, if you have to take a neuroscience/neuroanatomy class I'd reccomend this book as a good resource.
This book does what it is supposed to. It's a great source and an easy enough read considering the content. A bit dry at times but otherwise efficient. My only problem is that this kindle addition does not include page numbers that coincide with the actual book. In my Neuro class the teacher assigned specific page numbers and sections to cover the things she really wanted to focus on. This was an extremely difficult obstacle to overcome as I am taking classes online and the teacher couldn't simply show me which pages she was referring to and since the kindle addition doesn't have page numbers available. I am really disappointed that a text book would be missing this essential feature.
This textbook is really a huge help in my course on neuroscience and communication disorders. It is well written and the author gives credit to the other professors who put their expertise in the book as well. I like how there are terms at the end of each chapter
This book was really good and explained everthing I needed to know about Neuroscience for Communication Disorders. I will be keeping it for a reference for my others classes, as well as, when I go into the work field.

Thanks.The book is similar to the newest edition and it's a lot easier to carry this one around campus instead of the hardcover and more expensive fourth edition. The language isn't as difficult as I'd expected a neuro book to be and I'm using this for my upper level course in university.
very dense, good for looking up information, but not reading to comprehend concepts (too detailed). Overall, a good resource for class to supplement lecture materials/slides.
This book is extremely dense with information, which can be quite overwhelming. The writing style is quite tedious. (I feel the author purposefully wanted to make people hate the subject.) The author uses many unfamiliar terms early in the chapters and does not bother defining them until later on.I also feel the order that the subject matter was presented was confusing. The author jumps back and forth a lot and sometimes the order does not seem to make sense to me. I was very confused reading this textbook.The summaries at the end of the chapters are lacking. on the other hand I did like the case study problems and the diagrams and images are helpful.This book might be better suited to someone who is already quite familiar with the brain. Not suitable for a first-time neuroscience student.
detailed, to the point with good graphics although seen in other books. the explanations clarify many concepts not done in other major texts. Material basic neuro but clinical quizzes at the end of chapter with answers helps greatly.
