Buy this book only if you are truly desperate and skipped all your reading assignments. Wait, change that -- don't buy it even then. There are better case summaries on Lexis, West, Wikipedia, and elsewhere. This book, and the whole series, is just an easy-money scheme. The laziness of the editors is exceeded only by their greed. Very sloppy summaries of holdings, facts, and almost zero coverage of procedural issues. Furthermore, the book is riddled with typos. I used this as a companion to my own reading of the cases, but found so many factual errors that I could no longer trust it.

The facts are summarized reasonably well. Apart from that, the rules and holdings are just butchered most of the time. A case might be relevant for one particular reason, which is laid out in the casebook, but the brief highlights a very narrow, and generally irrelevant, reasoning/rule that makes the brief essentially useless. Baker v. Carr is primarily about the justiciability of political questions, but the case brief highlights the justiciability of apportionment, which is really only a minor concern. Are the briefs written by lawyers or idiots?

Casenotes always are a must for me, especially in a class like ConLaw where some of the cases are dense. This helps cut it down for you so you can remember which part of the Constitution you are meant to be focusing on for that case.

The actual publishing date on this book - according to the book I have in front of me - is 2010. This may not be the best book to summarize the law -- but it is a very good book to help you when you didn't have time to read for class and you know the professor is going to call on you. It pretty much hits all of the highlights of the cases. Use an commercial outline for preparing for exams.

I love these canned briefs because they not only simplify the case, but they provide some historical analysis, background and other important insight that is very relevant to Constitutional Law.

OK, some errors, High Court Case Summary MUCH better.

A great book for short case summaries!

Very helpful!
