if you fight fires, you will find useful information in this book written by experienced fire officers. This book explores your plan (strategy) and your actions to carry out your plan(tactics). Dependent on the type of building/area on fire, fire will react differently based on building construction. While fire is the enemy , the building is the battleground and responding firefighters must be familiar with the battleground to wage a sucessful battle. Whether the occupancy is a private home, multiple dwelling, commercial building etc., tactics can differ in locating, confining and extinguishing the fire. This is explained in detail through 20 chapters(456pgs.) There are chapters on Size up,Incident Command,Safety, Wildland fires,Place of assembly fires and vehicle fires. The last section contains hypothetical fires in single family dwellings, multi-family and commercial buildings. There is an extensive glossary on terms used and useful charts, pictures and Appendix. Whether you are professional or Volunteer firefighter, urban or suburban, you will increase or refresh your knowledge. Recommended.
Reading it for a promotional exam. Not a bad book, but could have been 125 pages shorter. Very repetitive in some areas and just breezed through others. Overall very informational.
