This book is good because of the sheer number of questions it offers however these questions are not very representative of what appears on the in-service for residents. PEER Review is definitely better. There are also many questions that I believe are more opinion based on practice style than actually grounded in facts. Also there are many questions that go beyond the scope of EM and seem to be included just so they can reach their 1200 number.

Many questions here but only a few that are bread and butter Emergency Medicine. Many seem to be preparing us for the Internal Medicine Boards since there are numerous questions that seem to be related to issues and treatments that will not be diagnosed, started, or even treated in the Emergency Department. When question pertinent to EM are presented, they are mixed with minutia details that reflect the bias toward the Internal Medicine Boards. The field of Emergency Medicine is comprehensive enough that the additions of minute and confusing ( often conflicting) answers does little to the preparation for the ER Boards. Straightforward questions about straightforward conditions that are seen in every Emergency Department would be difficult enough and should be the focus of such a preparation book. It seems at times, this book goes out of its way to be as cryptic or deceptive as possible.

The only resource that I used to study for the inservice. Made it halfway through the book and scored around the 80%. Nothing incredible, but with only a few hours of flipping through this over a week or two, I was pretty happy with my results and not in hot water with my program director. Good times.

I love this book so much, it is simulate the in-service exam, similar themes and topics. Also has good explanation and keywords. I did both rush review and this book, I believe this book is more close to the real test, and explanations are way better than rush review. I strongly recommend it. Also it's very cheap looking to its value.

Great questions and answers. But I would like to see the answers right after the questions and would love it if it was system based. regardless its a must for any ER resident..also would like to see Errata for this book. found bunch of errors myself

I used this for board review. Its a decent Q-bank. It hits on some topics that ROSH and PEER VIII didn't. Although, at times some of the answers were extremely inaccurate. As in the exact opposite was true. Additionally, its starting to show its age in terms of some things are no longer standard of care (ex steroids for meningitis). Overall its good as a 2nd or 3rd source. I would definitely recommend ROSH review over this if you are only getting one Q-bank.Edit: I changed my rating down to 2 stars. The more questions I went through, the more mistakes I found. It's almost like someone did not proof read this before publishing.

Comprehensive questions BUT they really do not match up well with ABEM exam. Many are just epidemiology based (i.e. what % of this disease have that....). I would recommend using another source for primary study material.

Tons of questions. The questions have a lot of which one of these is true except and stuff like that which I could do without but it was decent review book.
