Not big on writing reviews, still in school, don't have time for it but I wanted to spread the word. This book was my lifeline. Peds quarter for us was KILLER! And it took out a few of our classmates as well as added a few from the class before. It was the turning point for so many. I made it though but I did so because I had this and I used it well. The way the questions are worded prepared me for how the tests were going to be and by studying the rationales as well, I was able to critically think through the questions I wasn't sure of. No lie, I wouldn't have made it through without this book and the OB one as well.I am currently in my mental health quarter and have the Davis book for that as well. Once again, I am passing thanks to the Q&A format of these books. When I graduate, I'll find this Davis person and Kiss him on the lips!!One key piece of advice, don't just ask and answer, really study the rationales because they are the key to the tests.Good luck!!
I own a lot of the books in the series including fundamentals, test taking strategies and med surge. These are a great review and the CD is helpful. I also own the Hogan review books. I like the hogan books better because they have N-CLEX alerts in the margins and my instructors almost always have test questions on that material. I have placed level 2 on all of my ATI tests. I also get A's and B's in all my nursing classes since I started using these books. If you can buy both the Davis and the Hogan books then do it. If you can't afford both then I say go for the Hogan books. Stay away from the Lippincott's made easy series. Those were lame!
This book is a great companion to my review for the classroom exams. The questions are very comprehensive and relevant to my needs. I recommend any one to purchase this reference book if you want to prepare yourself better and perform the score you are looking for.
This was a good book to study Peds. Honestly I'm pretty sure all of the questions in the book can be found on the website (the link and code of which can be found in the front cover) but having the book was helpful, too, for study groups. One of the only things I didn't like about it was there were a few too many matching questions. Generally matching questions are just definition questions and you can skip them but they take up at least a page of every chapter and it gets redundant. You figure you made note cards or highlighted or whatever you had to to make sure you understood the necessary definitions and now you have a book quizzing you on definitions and it seems like you're either wasting your time or wasting paper that could be given over to good questions. Like I said the questions are online and you can skip the ones you think are silly. But it was good to browse through and think through which might be relevant to the tests - and a few were for us.
Would recommend for any nursing student taking Pediatrics. It has lots of questions in NCLEX style format. My teacher even used some of the questions from this book on some of the test. It helped me a lot and I would recommend it.
For Nursing school these make all the difference for helping understand how to read and interpret nclex questions. These books increased my grades in Nursing classes on exams by an easy 10 points!
This book as really been helpful in preparing me for my exams. The questionare good and the rrationale really help in increasing my learning.
Excellent!!! Was in a super bind. Full nursing load + microbiology + personal stuff = failing all classes at midterm. Long short, this book (plus some others) redeemed me. Passed all my courses! All my thanks to the makers of these books and to God!!
