About me: I have taken the GRE twice with these scores and current conversions (2002: V:770/170, Q:780/164; and 2011: V:620/161, Q:800/166). In 2002, I prepared for 30 hours in all, over 3 weeks; in 2011, I prepared over 120 + hours across 5 weeks. For math, I largely relied on Barron's only (maybe squeezing in a little KAPLAN). This background should help you in gauging my experience and expectations.I bought this volume as part of the 8 book pack. Bottomline: As part of that pack, this might make good sense if you buy all for $90. As a stand alone, for $15-20, I'd suggest skipping this and sticking to Barron's for the Math Review and official ETS books for testing your preparation.Pro: It holds folks by the hand and reminds them of how fractions, decimals, and percents work interchangeably. It takes you back to where you started in grade 5th of 6th, maybe. (Con: For many of us, who have always done some mental math and belong to a certain generation now going extinct, a lot of this very basic stuff is not needed at all, but is still easy to skim over.)Pro: It is a good workbook for working with the three concepts.Reservations: A significant proportion of questions are there to help you get comfortable working with the three concepts. They do not have the feel of GRE questions. The real hard set at the end might be too hard (as the book admits), but not a bad exercise if you are willing to spend 2 minutes (or even more) per question. Again, these hard questions do not quite invoke for me a sense of alignment with the GRE style of question formulation. The 8-book Manhattan Prep set has been called an overkill, and I did dread that (still do) with limited time on my hands.
