This book was excellent for my Med Surg II class Chronic Diseases.Instead of pages & pages of overwhelming information, it punch points the most important factsof what we need to learn as nurses. As well as what is important to know for the HESI'sOnce I got it, my test scores went way up!
The book cover says you get 850 practice questions. I bought the book tried to sign up for the questions and was denied because you must have professor approval, and this book is not used in my class ero go no professor approval and no access to questions. The back of the cover states you can download audio chapter content and makes it sound like it is included with the book. No, this is an additional charge of $20. Stick with Saunders, at least they are honest.
I'm an LPN finishing my RN. I have a lot of retained knowledge from my skills I practice at work but there is the technicality that I struggle with. The textbook gets so wordy that I find it hard to concentrate on the material. This book helps me tremendously. There is a pre-test before the chapter, the chapter then breaks the material down to what it is, symptoms, treatments, interventions, goals, nursing dx, etc. Then there is a post-test. I found several of the actual test questions to come from these pre and post tests and the tests on the CD. This book helped me attain my A's in med-surg. I highly recommend to anyone struggling with the drawn out standard textbooks.
Every semester my students ask which books on their list should be a priority, and despite this series NOT being a required text, I HIGHLY encourage my students to invest in Hogan's Reviews and Rationales series. I have students that pass my classes with an A, just using her books and of course, by paying attention in class!
Very helpful in explaining many advanced concepts in nursing. I have found that many instructors from my nursing program have even taken questions directly from this text.
The book is fine, but if you plan to use it for extra NCLEX review there are very few questions throughout the books chapters, and the website does not function as expected. I thought I would have access to self-study on the website, but apparently that is not the case even with the access code in the front of the book. Be sure you are buying this book as just a book and not for additional web resources you will not be able to access.
This book is perfect for any nursing student to get ready for exams! It breaks down med-surg into the categories just like are on the exams. It is easy to study from and gives you tons of questions with rationales for each question. If you are struggling with nursing school I highly recommend this book as well as the others reviews and rationales books!
Breaks down the information on each body system based on the need to know information, including nursing interventions, priority, and patient education.
