I had to take the MPRE three times to finally pass. It wasn't that I'm dumb or didn't know the law, it's that the test is set up in a very specific way, and if you aren't ready for that, you'll get tricked. On my third try, I bought this and ended up adding 25 points to my score and passed easily. Very grateful for this resource and recommend it for anyone.
EXCELLENT PRODUCT! I write this a day after receiving my PASSING score on the MPRE. Not only did I pass, but I passed by an unexpectedly large margin. The ONLY two tools I used were the model rules and this book. This book set me up for understanding how the test works and which concepts to focus on. While I certainly put in the time studying, this was a really great tool. Worth every penny.
Would definitely recommend for anyone taking the MPRE. Gives some very helpful test strategies and hints specific to the MPRE, and then packs in almost 200 previously-used test questions with detailed answers and explanations.
This is exactly what I needed. This book is a straight forward no non sense approach for the MPRE. I took it back in 2012 and passed, but I need a higher score for a different jurisdiction, so here I go again. I don't remember much, except that I didn’t study Judicial stuff.I read the tips and tricks and then started with the practice questions. I did 10 questions and got 9 correct. I didn't actually read the fact patterns. I just eliminated the answers and followed the logic in the answer choices. Once I narrowed down the answer choices, I dug through the cobwebs of my brain and picked an answer that seemed vaguely familiar.Rinse. Repeat. 8/10 for the next set. I missed items in areas that I literally never studied. I always narrowed it down to the best two answers. I then rea the fact pattern and see if I can figure it out. Also, I make little flashcards, on my smart phone, using the explanations provided in the book.My point? This book has every you need to hack the MPRE. I finally understand why the LSAT tests logical reasoning! Too bad I figured this out AFTER law school and the General Bar Exam.I didn't know it was this easy.
I have passed the MPRE of August 2015 with the help of this book. This book was most helpful to me in that it provided detailed explanation on each and every question. It is not covering all the issues so I cannot say it is a perfect book, but this book is enough to get oneself familiarized with the exam. As the auter says, you'll have to study the rules separately to become confident about your knowledge.
This was a great supplement for me. Very clear, well written, and just what you need, LOTS of practice questions. The strategies section is not overkill, but very useful information to know in addition to the actual content. Great supplement for my review course (I'm MPRE & bar prepping now, but this also helped a lot during my professional responsibility course).
I am not exactly sure what revisions were made on top of the 2009 edition, but I agree with one of the reviews (to the 2009 edition) that the examples in this book are way too easy compared to the real MPRE. This can be dangerous since the candidate may feel very confident after using this book, only to panic in the real MPRE after facing the first five or six questions (which are more difficult). The detailed and individual analysis of why EACH answer choice is the "best answer" or "not the best answer" is helpful.I passed the MPRE on my first attempt (yehey!), and I never even studied the MPRE coverage in law school. (foreign law degree). My recommendation: use this book but always mindful that the real MPRE is more difficult. Master/memorize the Rules of Professional conduct ,and at least be familiar with the Code of Judicial Conduct (I was not even able to read the CJC due to lack of review time).
I have read many MPRE books, but this one is my favorite. I personally find it better than the Barbri MPRE review because this book gives you clues and tricks to avoid picking the answer that "looks attractive, but wrong."
