If you dont do alot of manual transmission work, this guide will not help you pass the test . You will need to get another book to go along with this. I read the entire guide and like all the other delmar study guides I took all six of the practice tests in the back of the book.I went to take the real exam and was thrown off as it seemed there were alot of questions that werent covered in this guide. I still passed the test but I felt I used my experience of being a auto tech to pull through this test. I passed barely with a 26 out of 40. You need atleast 26 to pass the test. If you dont have any experience with manual trannys then you might want to consider a different study guide or read multiple books and other materials.

The general overview of the system sucks. Not much of explaining and concepts of how the system. Unhelpful in every way. The questions in the back was more helpful

I like the Delmar ASE test prep series books because of so many test prep questions in the book. Less theory and more test questions.I need to get in to the rhythm of the ASE tests and these help every time. I am A1-A9, L1,L2,X1 certified. So yes, they helped me pass all of the tests. Great ASE test prep book. It has a lot of great ASE type questions. Good summary of the basics, symptoms and diagnostics. I would say just from reading this book alone and the basics that you should already know as a mechanic, it'll cover about 70% of the questions on the real ASE test. I found it very useful.

Bought this to brush up on manual drivetrain/differential for my recertification. Good quick read for a recert. Probably not enough if you don't already have a solid base in manual trans. Much better than the auto trans book. Gave the auto trans 1 star. Luckily for the publisher manual trans hasn't changed much in decades unlike auto trans.

i bought this book and read it thoroughly, also got tons of info elsewhere and my test result were low, i passed but with 3 answers above the minimum, the book alone wont cut it, it will help but if this is your only resource there is no way u will pass, don't even try, for the price its not bad so i recommend it

If you are going to make testing information, make sure you have the correct information. I have a hard time trusting a company that doesn't check their work!

These are good books but ASE changes the questions every year now so you better study really good and be prepared for any questions and the TRICK questions.
