I use this book in my Upper Elementary class, and it is a great favorite of the students. The many colorful photographs of finished projects both inspire and instruct the beginning curve stitcher. The book is divided into projects based on stitching angles and those based on stitching circles. I gave the book 4 stars instead of 5 stars because some of the instructions for the circle projects could be a bit clearer, but that shouldn't stop you from trying this excellent book. You'll be surprised how easy it is to make beautiful projects that look really complicated!
This used to be called String Art, but, boy, has it changed! It is now beautiful and sophisticated. I ordered one copy and was really impressed looking at the pictures. Then I read the text and got really excited. There are many patterns, all explained. It shows you how to make your own designs and explains what you are doing. This would be wonderful for math teachers, parents and grandparents. Kids would learn math without realizing it.I showed the book to my stitching friends and have just ordered 16 more copies for them.
This is just fun. There are many fun projects to do and no math knowledge is required. But the math is there, if you want to look at it. Some programs are provided in two different versions of Basic, although not any of the versions I have ever used. But they are easy enough to read and should not be hard to convert. There are pictures of nice design ideas and templates. It is a good book and I'm glad I have it.

Jon Millington brings to life the subject of curve stitching in this lavishly illustrated book. The often forgotten craft of curve stitching is made into an invaluable mathmatical teaching aid and should appeal to both the teacher and student alike. A really lovely book which should attract even the most reluctant of maths students! I thoroughly recommend it.
