Download Free (EPUB, PDF)

Dragonflies and damselflies are large-winged insects that are usually found in the vicinity of water. Impressive fliers – they can fly forward, backward, glide and hover – they feed on insects they capture on their wing. Despite their large size and prominent jaws, they are harmless to humans and do not bite. This beautifully illustrated guide highlights over 70 familiar and unique species and includes information on their life cycle and features illustrations of common caterpillars and pupae. Laminated for durability, this lightweight, pocket-sized folding guide is an excellent source of portable information and ideal for field use by naturalists of all ages. Made in the USA.

This is a handy folded card to carry on the trail. Don't mistake it for a book or trail guide. The species images are especially tiny, just over an inch and a half across, and often hard to distinguish from each other at that scale. About 70 species are included. I would recommend opting for a full book if you're enthusiastic about dragonflies or insects in general -- but if you have a casual interest, this is suitable.

This is an OK beginner's guide. Nice artwork, but not enough detail --of course, it IS only a pamphlet. I'm glad I got it only to make my order over $25 and didn't have my heart set on something spectacular.

As an amateur photographer I needed a ready reference to identify the dragonflies and damselflies I was photographing. This pocket guide is easy to use, is waterproof, and provides a ready reference whether it's next to the computer or in the field. This item is a good value and a useful tool!

I am an amateur photographer and I have several pictures of dragonflies, etc. but not the names. This has helped considerably.

Dragonflies & Damselflies is a great spotters guide. It's always in the kayak. Anyone who lives near or plays in our streams, lakes and rivers should have one. I thought there were a couple of kinds of dragonflies at my local lake. My list is up to fifteen and counting. Who knew?

There are so many dragonfly species for this to be truly useful. Trying to match the dragonfly with the picture in the guide is very difficult. I was only able to recognize one or two. The only way to properly ID a dragonfly is to get a good photograph and match it to a photo in a good field guide. Kids might enjoy looking at this and attempting to make an ID but it will be frustrating.

This is a terrific field guide. It's in a plastic covering and the pictures are vibrant and beautiful. Got it for my daughter and she loves it!
