I'm an English/literature undergrad major and I rented this book through for my English (critical reading and writing) class. This is one of those rare books in which the authors find the perfect balance between contemporary language and formal instruction. Everything is practical, the examples are current and clear, and I personally feel I've learned more applicable knowledge from this book than any other single book that I've ever read. I highly recommend this to ANY student, to all English majors (even if it's not required reading) or anyone who wants to know more about language and argument (which applies to those involved in fields like politics, advertising, entertainment, and journalism).
If i didn't need this for a class i would have never looked at it, however i found it so interesting on how it allows you to see situations in a different perspective. I absolutely loved learning out of this book. I rented the book because lets face it the full price and even used ones are pricey. It worked out for me because I'm never going to need this book again. So yea, the shipping was super fast and for it being a rented book it was in new conditions! (to English professors, i would highly recommend having your students learn through this book!)
A couple of my friends who are very intelligent love the flash cards I made from my notes taken from this textbook. I had a hard time remembering all the terms when writing my notes in a notebook. I copied the term and concepts onto index cards for the concepts and I was also able to easily remember everything and pass the quizzes using them.
Quick delivery and great option for the saving student. Much better than the university book store.
This is a wonderful textbook. It is concise and easy to understand. My only complaint is the font could be larger. I have middle-aged eyesight! :)
It's funny, witty and an overall great rental. It is way to overpriced though, I don't think charging this much for such a small book is worth buying it. So I suggest you just rent the book.
