This classic by Finkler & Graf has been used successfully in many graduate Nursing Administration programs. It is well written and understandable to people who don't have an accounting background. The content is well organized, thorough and accurate. Steven Finkler is one of the most prestigious authors in the field of finance, financial management and budgeting for non-accountant managers in health care. This book is an excellent resource for head nurses, nursing directors, and many nurse executives still keep it as a reference. Indeed, any manager who operates a 24/7 service business might find it useful for understanding how to prepare a budget for that kind of operation. Anyone interested in the concepts of budgeting, and especially, how to apply those concepts in a hospital nursing unit setting can benefit from this book. It is the best text I have found for teaching these concepts to graduate nursing students.

Excellent book! I needed this for a Finance class in grad school. This book is an excellent resource. It clearly explains everything one would need to know about Budgeting in healthcare. It is loaded with examples of real life situations making it an easy book to read and hold your attention. i will be holding on to this book for future use.

Amazingly, this is a really good book. I say "amazingly" because it it, after all, a book on budgeting. However, it's a clear and concise read for a nurse who has zero management or budgeting experience. I am enrolled in a DNP program in the Nurse Executive tract and my career goal is management. The author's use of examples clarifies the confusing subject matter of this book and makes it easy for me to apply these concepts in my practice, despite the fact that I'm not in a management position. My manager has even said, "Maybe you can teach me some things!" See, I'm already indispensable ;)

The best part of this book is the recognition that most of us have moved into management without any formal training, and then explained the concepts as if we do not know anything (we do not) without making us feel like fools. For the first time I now actually understand what a regression analysis means....The not so nice part is the book is the small print. I would have been willing to pay more for a bigger book with more pages so that the font would be more readable... My suggestion, get it in e-format, and you will get a lot of happier readers :)

Easy to read and understandI am taking 2 classes while working full time and this book makes it easy to read.

This book has more detail on how to make staff budgeting. However, it was not easy to understand because it has no (unclear) sample/temples that shows the steps on how to make one.
