I agree with all of the reviews saying that this is an excellent resource for our youth. But I have to tell you that it was an excellent resource for ME at 45 years old. I loved having answers that I could not only understand, but could remember long enough to share with others! Now I don't have to just "take it on faith", I can actually get it!
I recommend this book to all teens, parents, youth workers, and also to adults who want their valid questions answered about the Catholic faith. Mr. Pinto has accurately answered 200 top questions from actual teens in an engaging and compelling manner. The answers are brief and clear....just what teens are looking for. If you care about teens and the Church, you'll put this book in their hands.
I am a youth minister, and I gave this book as a gift on our Confirmation retreat last year. I handed it out as we were waiting for the bus to arrive so we could head home. I was packing the rest of our materials, and I noticed something I had not heard the whole weekend: the entire room was quiet! I went to see what they were doing, and they were all spread out, reading this book! Most of them finished it within a few weeks of the retreat and started lending it to their friends. Of course, I am getting it again for this year's retreat!
Teenagers ask tough questions, and then they want short answers. Matt Pinto, not so long out of his own teenage years, delivers. This is the book I recommend be put in the hands of any teen who wants to know in brief terms what the Catholic Church is, why it believes what it believes and why it does what it does, and what difference it all makes to folks like you and me. I am a teenager and my youth minister gave me this book. It did a great job of honestly answering a lot of the questions that face catholic teenagers today. The book is entertaining and keeps your interest but it still has very good information! I would definitely reccomend this book to any Catholic teenager!
This book is beyond excellent! When I bought it at first I felt kind of crazy b/c I was 22 and I thought the book was for a younger age group. Yet I heard so many good things about the book I went ahead and bought it. I then realized that this book is for all ages. The questions that are answered in this book are questions that people of all ages ask. This book would be excellent to have in bible study or CCD classes. Everyone should read this book. Catholics that read this book can better defend their faith and people from other religions who read this book will better understand what Catholics believe. This book is well written and easy to understand. You can skip around or read from beginning to end like me. Either way you won't be able to put this book down!
This book made us realize how much our children were missing from the CCD program in our parish. When the arguments about going to church and why study the bible need to be answered - this is the book you need. It is funny but respecfull and worthwhile reading.
