Excellent book, very well written
This book was great for learning about the nuts and bolts of environmental consulting. It provides a broad overview of the field, and presents the material in a very clear, highly concise way that is a refreshing change from drier, more academic texts. The book is ideal for anyone who wants to learn about what environmental consultants do. I found the chapters on site assessment and remediation particularly helpful.
As a consumer of environmental consulting services, I have found Benjamin Alter's book extremely useful. Working in the energy field, our firm often decides whether and when to retain environmental consultants and then interfaces with retained experts. While I have learned about environmental topics and regulation, this book efficiently pulls together key concepts, techniques and terminology.Alter focuses on accepted investigation and remediation techniques in areas such as site investigation, land use and indoor concerns. The writing is clear and understandable; the chapter organization is handy for getting into a topic.Alter's work has made me much more effective in grappling with environmental matters and employing environmental consultants.
