I bought this shell guide because we were heading down to Florida. I wanted something that my 9 year old could use to reference the shells she found. I think I should have looked for a more kid friendly shell guide, but the guide itself was detailed and made identifying shells easy.

State and regional guides are much better for field study references. Examples? "Florida's Seashells" and "Florida's Living Beaches" (Beachcomber's guides) both by Blair and Dawn Witherington.

If you have ever walked down a beach picking up interesting shells, you will find this tiny book invaluable. It is especially for anyone on the East Coast from Maine through Florida.

This is a great book. Shows shells from every where and info on each one. Very helpful for the shell enthusiatic person. Makes you want to hit the beach and start looking.

Beautiful pictures and great information

It was in excellent shape. Good descriptions and excellent drawings of shells. It is also an easy pocket size, which would be easy to carry to areas that larger books would be awkward.

It wasn't really a good shell book.
