This is such a good book for identification. The classes, the families and subfamilies, etc. made it easy to find. Plenty of photos to compare from the shell and the descriptions were very percise.I recommend this to anyone who loves shells.
This book has nice illustrations and a wide variety of shells. It gives you the average size, where it is found, and a verbal description of the shell. What it does not give you is the common name for the shell. The scientific name is given, and could be googled, but it is enough for my purposes to remember the common name and I was disappointed that this resource needed to be added to another to find the information that I wanted.
Nice choice for "newbees" and advanced beginners due: 1. its size 2. fine arrangement of families 3. price 4. normal text description 5. nice drawings..its rarity in our time (i think its not photoshopped photos)only one issue - paperback cover not good in use
the book is nice, i like the fact that the photographs are very clear and representative of the real organisms. also, it covers shells from all over the world, even though some parts of the world, like my interest species of the West African Coast, were much under represented. but the book is a good book
I ordered this book to give to a friend who collects seashells. It arrived promptly, in beautiful condition. The photos are beautiful, and she was delighted with the book.
Easy to read and understand. Comprehensive coverage of shells around the world and very, very informative. This was a gift and we are now quite popular.Recommended
Confused at first because my book has a different cover... Same book though just different edition. Very informative and laid out well.
I had no idea there were so many kinds of shells, living in the middle of the country...
