Because this is a book about shells all over the world, not many species can be covered. I would not use it as a source for identifying shells because too few species are represented. However, the book has valuable reference information about the structure of shells, nomenclature used in referring to them, and a bunch of other good stuff that I can't remember because I don't have the book with me to look in it right now. It's probably the best book I have for reference purposes.
