This is great! Exactly what I wanted for trips to the NC beaches. Love that I can take it with me on my walks. Has the most common shells and several "rare treasures" as the brochure puts it.
For what it is-- a quick visual guide-- it is excellent. You won't find any uncommon shells in this or exhaustive information. I wanted it as a quick way a five year old can identify shells he finds. And it serves well for that purpose.
Gift for my granddaughter, who vacations with her parents on the Outer Islands. This was a perfect choice because it isn't overwhelming and IS waterproof, therefore a "take along to the beach" guide.
This guide is a basic, but remarkably thorough guide to the shells frequently found on the shores of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.Presented in laminated, pamphlet style, this guide works well for actually bringing TO the beach. It fits well in a beach bag, large pocket, or backpack without adding a lot of weight. The guide is also presented in full color, which is nice.While beachcombing looking for shells, you'll find this guide incredibly helpful!
