We recently moved to the beautiful state of Arizona and wanted a book of the animals, birds and desert plants. This is a very good book and has great colored pictures of all of the critters and plants, cactus, etc we see every day. I highly recommend it.
I'm giving it five stars because is an excellent book for beginners, like the title says "An Introduction...". It's clear, simple, with a LOT of illustrations and with a brief explanation. Unfortunately isn't there everything. We have more in Arizona, but for the price it's a GOOD deal. We receive every morning the visit of a couple of birds and I'm still wondering what type of birds they are. In the other way I can recognize a lot of the birds, snakes, spiders, plants etc. and others are totally new for me. We are planning another short trip to the mountains to see some of these wanderful creatures. Obviously with the respect that the nature deserve. Buy it!
Photos and descriptions are great. Very helpful in identifying your local wildlife. Would recommend to anyone going to Arizona. A fun book for looking at on a road trip as well.
I study/train in survival in the desert south of Phoenix. I needed a good guide to flora and fauna and this book fit the bill perfectly. It give accurate physic descriptions of plants and animals from all over the state and also includes a section on public lands.
Even has hiking and scenic drive suggestions. Breaks down different zone of AZ nicely. Wish it had more species of snakes and so forth, but it is just a quick reference guide.
We just move to Arizona and wanted to know more the physical environment and animals that comprised the topography. This is wonderful little guide with detail drawings and descriptions to give you the needed detail. If you live in Arizona, this is must book.CEM
