As a woman and a non-hunter, I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was tastefully written, filled with pertinent and factual information, providing an excellent and unbiased overview of every aspect about coyotes. I learned so much from reading this book. It was obvious to me that the author has a deep and profound respect for the coyote. Having experienced coyotes and wolves for the first time this summer on a trip out West to Yellowstone National Park, I was deeply moved by the beauty of these animals. I purchased this book to better understand and appreciate coyotes. I also enjoyed photographing them in their natural environment. As a nature/outdoor enthusiast, I have read many books and this is by far the best, most comprehensive overview about a wild animal that I have ever read. I highly recommend it. I also like that the author donates money from the sale of his book to feeding the homeless. If every author considered donating to such causes, it would go a long way in helping to make the world a better place.”

Very comprehensive book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in getting up close to the seldom seen coyote. Lots of case study information as well as wolf hybrid study findings. Trappers, hunters, and wildlife photographers....if you aren't seeing coyotes, perhaps this book is what you need to get closer. The book is very detailed with studies on behavior, senses, habitats, breeding seasons, and much more.Mike did a great job in making me realize just how successful the coyote really is and how devistating they can be to other species if poulations go unchecked. They are true survivors in every climate and in nearly every state in the U.S. except Hawaii!Great read.

If ever a definitive book was to be written on the Coyote, this is it. No matter what your interest is in this fascinating animal this book covers all aspects of the coyote's life from A to Z. It differs from other books I've read on coyotes in that the author doesn't just tell story after story, he'll refer to a personal experience only to highlight a particular point regarding the coyote's behavior. This author gets into the biology behind the animal which gives you the "why", something I certainly appreciate. Very informative and useful for the field.

Just received this book today and already I'm glad I purchased it... I have read through half of it and it already deserves the 5 star rating... I have been hunting predators for 29 years and I have learned many important aspects of the coyote by reading this book... I will finish it totally tomorrow that how interested I am in this book...Now I m really looking forward to reading the 2nd half of the book... When I'm finished with it my son will read... You got to know your prey if you want to adequately want to out smart them. I can tell by the information.. This man knows his coyotes...

As a total newbie to hunting I found this book quite informative for the common layman who wants to learn about the animal he/she will be hunting and to be loaded with a wealth of informative even the most avid, seasoned hunter would need. Overall Michael covered every base you could think of from smell, sight, basic behaviors and habits of the animal and even going into scientific outlooks. Great read definitely a page turner filled with information.

This was a great read on understanding Coyotes. Not your average opinion book, Understanding Coyotes was backed up by countless scientific studies. It gave me a greater understanding of the habits and relationships the coyote has within its environment. Even with spending most of my time outdoors and in the woods Understanding enlightened me as to the behavior of this elusive animal.

The author shares his experience throughly and in an easy to read and understand format. As a new coyote hunter, I will be changing my approach based on the facts this book provides. I may even admit I've been doing a few things wrong :-/Thanks for taking the time to put this together - and thanks for keeping it interesting. Definitely worth the read.

I am fairly new to coyote hunting and learned a ton from the book. There was a lot of detailed information but I found the book easy to read and the information was presented in a way a beginner like me could understand.
