The shape shifter tarot deck is very attractive. The cards portray a strong connection between the characters and animals. But the little white book lacked any connection to the deck's concept. There was not even a rudimentary explanation for the pairing of the figures and animals. You will have to do your own research ,which isn't necessarily a bad thing,or get a hold of a companion book. It would have been nice to have them in a box set. Still,I do love the look and feel of the cards.
The Shapeshifter Tarot is a celtic/pagan themed tarot that illustrate people shapeshifting into animals. D. J. Conway and Sirona Knight combined their talents to merge the Rider tarot with the celtic shamanic experience. Lisa Hunts brings this deck to life with amazing images, however slightly washed out.The Major Arcana are labeled in English and numbered from 0 to 24 at the bottom of the card. The 81 cards honor the 81 knights of the Nine Rings of the Cordemanons of the Celtic Gwyddonic Druid tradition, according to Sirona. However, the three added cards are also a meaning full part of the journey from Initiation to Oneness.The Minor Arcana are labeled at the top and bottom. At the top, the label shows the element association. A peculiarity of this deck is the association of Swords with Fire and Wands with Air However, Cups and Pentacles are still associated with Water and Earth, respectively. The Pip Cards are labeled with a number and a key word at the bottom, while the Court Cards are labeled with the name of the card. There are interesting changes in the Court Cards as well. The Queen and King has been renamed to match a matriarchal hierarchy, such as:14 King - Goddess13 Queen - God12 Knight - Warrior11 Page - SeekerI would recommend this deck if you are interested on the shapeshifting aspects of shamanism or you are a fan of Lisa Hunt's artwork.
I found a well-used copy of the Shapeshifter Tarot book in a local shop. An ardent Mother Peace Tarot reader, I thought the notion of shapeshifting interesting and expansive. I ordered the cards on , and they are mint and in full color, unlike the book's black and white illustrations. I am thrilled to be working with this particular deck. I have given readings to friends online who, without benefit of either the book or the cards, seem to benefit greatly by this expansive Celtic approach to and interpretation of everyday Magick.
Each card is a work of art. There are so many details that you see something new every time.
this deck is a must have for the earthy type or the empaths out there thisis one of my favorite decks.
Nothing beats a Lisa Hunt deck.. One of her best.
