Saw this as a library book in our local library and preliminary glance told me that I had to have this for my own shelves. We own a number of antique and turn of the century pieces of furniture that will be needing re-upholstering in the near future...but the quote of $1200 for just one chair had me thinking that if I could find a book that addressed the needs of the the older pieces, it would be great...and this book foots the bill like a glove.....All the details of the antique pieces and older chairs and such are covered in great detail. This is going to save us a ton of money in the long run....
This is a great book for beginners as well as advanced upholsterers. I found interesting that it is very extensive on traditional techniques and it is also very explicative of each one of them. It has very good explanaitions as well as coloured pics and drawings. I didn't give it 5 stars because it is superficial on covering modern techniques, the ones required for a professional business. I'm an upholstery student at a community college, and it has been a great reference for me. But I had to learn the time saving tricks with my teachers. This is a great reference if bought with the Complete Course, written by the same author.
