I started a new english class at school and I havent been in an english class in many years, so I thought this book was going to be boring and useless. However, going through this book in class has helped me sooooo much! Because of this book i've been receiving awesome grades on all my essays and research papers. It helps you with different style formats for writing different papers. I was thinking about re-selling it back on but I am keeping this book. This book will help me through out my life!! I just have one complaint, the coil binding rips the papers easily! im very careful with mine and have seen some tears in the pages, but its something that I can live with.
I was required to have this book for both Writing in the Liberal Arts classes when I first started college. I was eager to sell it after the courses was over. Big mistake. I have since then purchased another copy, and plan on keeping it forever. This book serves as a refresher course for students who have taken any English class, and will help them to write better.Used and older books of this copy are just fine if you are skeptical about paying $40.00 for a brand new copy. Just be aware that there are important revisions, and you should find out what they are.
I had to buy this as part of a required text book for one of my college courses and I have referred to it quite often throughout my college years. Very clear cut and has both ELA and APA writing styles. I highly recommend this as a good tool to use throughout college.
This book is full of so much useful information you may need when going to school (I use it in my college English classes). Everything from proper MLA citations, to detailed examples and explanations of parts of speech, etc. Easy to maneuver through the book and find what you are looking for.DEFINITELY RECOMMEND (make sure it is the current version though as MLA changes over years)If anything changes, I will update this review.
This actually isn't all that bad though even with it being a handy resource I still do not utilize it properly. It is basically a handbook and means well, I say go for it if you are serious about writing and are just starting or have a class that requires this text. had this new for the price of a soggy, water-damaged, smelly, stained, used one at my college.
I am trying to finish my Masters degree and I had been out of school for a minute and I needed a refresher on the rules of engagement when writing an essay thank you Mrs Hacker. I highly recommend this EASY READER to anyone wanting to learn the essential on writing college papers CORRECTLY !
Along with other textbooks, I needed this for my dual enrollment course as a high school senior. It was very helpful in the sense of writing papers, citing, and many other things such as grammar and structures. I still use this book sometimes throughout my college experience since it was/is so helpful to me. Overall good textbook to have!

I learned a lot from this book very powerful. I use it on a daily basis to gather information on how to cite sources in works cited and in context of papers. great book.
