The College Guide to Essay Writing is very easy to read and understand. It takes the mystery out of writing essays and gives you the tools to do the best job you can. It offers tips on how to write and how to edit your own work by reading it backwards--thus taking it out of context in order to see mistakes you've made. I highly recommend this book.
I am using the book THE COLLEGE GUIDE TO ESSAY WRITING as a desk top handbook for reference while I am writing a book. It is helping me in getting organized for my writing.
In her book, "The College Guide to Essay Writing',Jill Rossiter begins by stating, "The ability to communicate effectively in writing is a vital skill."How very true.Her book is masterful in solving the mysteries of lucent writing in a simple organized manner. Everything she recommends is worthwhile considering before putting pen to paper."Know Your Audience" is an admonition that is important in writing as well as in speaking. She breaks down this topic, as she does the other topics, in an easy, understandable way.I wish I had this concise book when I was attempting to write when in college. It would have made writing a far richer and certainly a more pleasant experience.I strongly recommend this book. Harry Chinchinian M.S., M.D.
I have never felt so taken advantage of as I do after receiving this "pamphlet". Upon opening to the table of contents the first 4 pages fell out of the cover. I have been given religious tracts on the street that were better produced than the book. It can not be read without it falling apart. As for the content I do not believe it has any real value. The section of "Documentation" I found to be of absolutely no use. I read the reviews and believed them, what a mistake. I believe this to be 75 pages of very elementary information. I really feel cheated and the sad fact is the book is so poorly produced that I can not return it, the condition after opening the cover makes it worthless. If you need any real help in college writing I suggest you keep looking.
This text gives students practical information about writing in a step-by-step guide. Students will find the elements of the text accessible, clear, and relevant to their needs and interests. One of the most brilliant aspects of the text is the way it involves the students with their own essays--the text explains some element of writing, such as transitions, for example, and then allows students to check their understanding of transitions by answering questions about them using their own essay for content. Bravo to this author for her skillful explanations and student oriented approach to the basic writing text.
It was a book required for school, and it had some really great college essay's. It was very helpful and it also provided some inspiration.
I really depend on this book when writing my college papers. Wouldn't be without it.
