I had to purchase it for a class that I am taking. Turns out the book is pretty good. For someone that is not that confident about their writing skills and stresses out when I have to write a paper, this book has given me some good tips on how to approach my writing.
If your course requires you to use the integrated media--DO NOT PURCHASE the Kindle E-textbook version. It does not come with the book. Either purchase the hard copy or find alternate e-versions of the book that actually come with integrated media. I purchased this and am very annoyed at this point. The media is a necessary part for my wife's class so we will have to find a workaround until an actual solution is found.
I had to get this for a college class. It was really informative and well written. It's been a few years since I purchased it and it is still on my bookshelf and I still refer to it occasionally. I love nothing more than having a textbook that I can still use after the class is over.
This is a main literary workbook in the field of becoming an expert essayist. Once one knows the book well they will see that their intuitive inner guide or personal worldview can and should guide them in their writing based on the key model outlines in this book. You can see the expected professional structure of argumentation in this book although it is challenging so it may require several reads through it. Gook luck with this one it is one of my favorite resource guides. Does require self-disciplinary style self study.
This was one of my text books, but I remember I was not too impressed by it. It probably is not fair to say it, because I do not remember why. I am at the end of my fourth year as an English major and I used this text maybe in the beginning of my third year. Perhaps if I reread it now I would appreciate more.
As a college student, every penny counts and this was a great price for a much needed text. The condition of the book is perfect. It was listed as Used-Like New & that was a perfect description. It arrived quickly and there were no problems whatsoever. I will definitely buy from this seller again when ever the opportunity arises. THe book does exactly what it says on the title. Will help you improve your technique and think about the things you are doing wrong so you can improve. Great!
I have absolutely no complaints about the content of this text. It was very helpful as a guide in my intermediate composition class. The problem I have is that each section ends with some suggestions. The suggestions are good, but they are repeated a ridiculous number of times. This same 2-3 pages of text appears over and over throughout the textbook. This went from a little annoying, to frustrating, to absolutely infuriating. I would have just skipped these pages, but there is a small amount of new information each time its repeated. This forced me to have to at least skim it each time. This must have occurred 20 times in the 7 chapters that my class covered. I wish they would have just put the new ideas in and a reference to the original text.
